Andrew J. Cutler, MD is board certified in both Psychiatry and Internal Medicine and has been conducting clinical research since 1993 at the University of Virginia, the University of Chicago and since 1996 in Central Florida. Dr. Cutler also speaks to professional and community audiences about the evaluation and treatment of mental illnesses such as ADHD, Bipolar Disorder (Manic-Depression), Major Depression, Anxiety Disorders and Schizophrenia. He is Meridien Research’s Chief Medical Officer and Principal Investigator in Lakeland, Maitland and Bradenton.
James Andersen, MD is a board certified physician who has served as a Director of the Florida Academy of Family Physicians and is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Family Medicine at the University of Miami School of Medicine. Dr. Andersen is an expert in addiction and family medicine and is a Principal Investigator in Lakeland and Spring Hill.
Conrad O. Beckles, MS, LMHC, PhD received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of Central Florida and a Master of Science degree in Counseling & Psychology from Troy State University. Dr. Beckles completed his doctorate at Barry University, earning a Ph.D. in Counseling & Psychology. Dr. Beckles is a Primary Investigator and a Sub-Investigator at Meridien’s Bradenton location.
Martin Bialow, MD is a board certified physician who has served as a cardiologist in private practice, a staff cardiologist at Bay Pines and Morton Plant, and an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of South Florida. Dr. Bialow also serves as the Associate Medical Director of Suncoast Hospice. Dr. Bialow is an expert in cardiology. He is a Sub-Investigator at our St. Petersburg clinic.
Eva-Maria Heurich, DO, FAAFP has more than 25 years of experience in pharmaceutical research and has been a Principal Investigator since 2000 and recently became a Certified Principal Investigator. She has conducted almost 200 studies in indications including osteoarthritis, pain management, diabetes and mental health. Dr. Heurich went to school at the State University of New York – Binghamton and received her medical degree from the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine in Old Westbury. She is the President of the Florida Osteopathic Medical Association (FOMA) District 3. She has been with Meridien Research since 2016.
Gigi C. Lefebvre, MD, FAAFP earned her medical degree from Louisiana State University Medical Center in New Orleans in 1987. She then trained at Bayfront Medical Center in St. Petersburg, FL where she completed her residency in Family Medicine in 1990, and thereafter opened a private practice. She is board certified in Family Medicine & continues to care for her private patients in her current office, Lagniappe Medical, which is located one mile south of the Meridien Research office in St. Petersburg. In January 2006, Dr. Lefebvre joined the Meridien Research team, & since then has conducted >350 clinical trials in multiple therapeutic areas. She currently serves as Principal Investigator or Sub-investigator in the St. Petersburg, Tampa, & Spring Hill sites.
Michelle P. Mallitz, MD is board certified in Internal Medicine. Dr. Mallitz has more than 13 years’ experience in internal medicine. She is a graduate of Georgetown University School of Medicine. She has been a Sub-Investigator with Meridien Research in Bradenton since 2013 and has conducted more than 50 studies of gout, IBS, hypogonadism, cardiovascular issues and diabetes.
Andrea Marraffino, PhD has been with Meridien Research (formerly Florida Clinical Research Center) in Maitland since 2013 as a Sub-Investigator and Principal Investigator. Her specialties include ADHD, Alzheimer’s disorder, anxiety, autism spectrum, binge eating disorder, bipolar disorder, depression, fibromyalgia, migraine headache, mild cognitive impairment (MCI), schizophrenia and schizoaffective disorder.
Richard B. Powell, MD, MPH is a Principal Investigator at Meridien Research’s Spring Hill location. He has extensive experience as a Primary Care Physician in Florida and has held roles consulting in health information technology and healthcare regulatory policy. He also served as Medical Director of a program developing innovation in medical care delivery models. Dr. Powell is a graduate of the University of South Florida and served in the Medical Corps of the U.S. Army Reserve and Florida National Guard.
