Do you suffer from depression?
The purpose of this study is to assess the effectiveness of an investigational medication compared to placebo when given in addition to an antidepressant to patients with MDD who are still experiencing depressive symptoms despite taking antidepressant medication.
The results of the study will provide more information about the investigational medication and its ability to treat patients with Major Depressive Disorder.
What will occur in the study?
If you are eligible to participate, you will be randomly assigned (like the flip of a coin) to receive either the investigational medical or placebo. A placebo will look like the medication, but contains no active drug. No one (including you and the study doctor or their team) will know who is receiving the study drug or the placebo. This way the results of the study will not be favored one way or another. If it becomes urgently necessary for your care, your study doctor will be able to find out whether you are taking the placebo or the study drug.
All study visits and study medication will be provided to the patient at no cost.
Who is eligible to participate?
To pre-qualify for this study, you must:
- Be 18 years of age or older
- Have been diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder
- Currently experiencing symptoms of depression for at least 8 weeks
- Are currently taking an anti-depressant medication
Study staff will determine eligibility based on additional study criteria. Compensation may be provided for your time and travel related to the study if you qualify.
