Principal Investigators: Richard D. Knapp, DO obtained his doctorate at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and is licensed in both Florida and Pennsylvania. Dr. Knapp received his post-graduate training at Tri-County Osteopathic Hospital, Belmont Behavioral Health, University of Pennsylvania, Jefferson Medical College and Medical College of Pennsylvania. Dr. Knapp is Board Certified in Psychiatry and Addictions Psychiatry and has been practicing psychiatry since 1975. He has been with Meridien Research (formerly Florida Clinical Research Center) since 2001. Primary indications served include depression, anxiety, ADHD, alcohol dependency or other addictions, insomnia, schizophrenia, pain, Alzheimer’s disease, bipolar disorder, migraine headache, women’s health, obesity and general medicine.
Martin S. Kane, MD has been with Meridien Research (formerly Florida Clinical Research Center) since 2007 as a Sub-Investigator and Principal Investigator. He is Board Certified in General Psychiatry and in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Dr. Kane attended Georgetown University and Tulane University (B.S. Biology 1975) before earning his MD degree from St. George’s University, School of Medicine in 1981. He completed his psychiatry residency at the University of Florida in Gainesville in 1985. His specialties include pediatric attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), Tourette disorder, bipolar disorder, migraines and schizophrenia.
Andrea Marraffino, PhD completed her doctorate at Virginia Commonwealth University, earning a Ph.D. in Allied Health with a specialty in Rehabilitation Counseling. She has been with Meridien Research (formerly Florida Clinical Research Center) since 2013. Indications include: ADHD, Alzheimer’s disorder, anxiety, autism spectrum, binge eating disorder, bipolar disorder, depression, mild cognitive impairment (MCI), post-traumatic stress disorder, schizophrenia and schizoaffective disorder.
Rater Experience: Certified raters have extensive experience with MINI, SCID, PANSS, MCCB, C-SSRS, Ham-D, Ham-A, MADRS, YMRS, K-SADS, CIBIC, ADAS, CDR, EDSS, and many other assessments.
Research Training: All site staff has received the following training: OSHA, IATA, CPR, IVRS, SAE, ICH, and GCP. Coordinators are experienced with EDC programs: Phase Forward, Oracle, In-Form, iMedidata and sponsor specific programs.
Meridien Research meets or exceeds enrollment goals for the majority of trials.
Statistics on screen-failure rates, retention rates and enrollment to goal rates available upon request.
Patient recruitment is accomplished primarily through database, outreach, online advertising, social media, print, radio and television.

The Orlando inpatient site is located off I-4, Exit #88 and convenient for study subjects from Orlando, Altamonte, Winter Park and Apopka. The site is 30 minutes from Orlando International Airport.
